Our guide keeps things simple, practical, and easy to follow, while reinforcing Rotoplastics’ reliability.
Choose the right spot
Pick a location that is level, accessible, and close to your downpipes.
- Ensure the ground is firm and stable
- Avoid areas prone to flooding or erosion
- Allow space for maintenance and inspection
Prepare the base
Safety first. A solid base prevents shifting and damage over time.
- Use a concrete slab or compacted sand/gravel
- Make sure the base is larger than the tank diameter
- Check that the surface is completely level
Position the tank
Place the tank carefully onto the prepared base.
- Use proper lifting equipment for larger tanks.
- Align the outlet with planned plumbing connections.
- Avoid dragging the tank to prevent scratches.
Connect the inlet and outlet
Attach pipes securely to ensure smooth water flow.
- Connect downpipes to the inlet with a leaf guard or filter.
- Fit the outlet to household plumbing or garden taps.
- Seal joints with approved fittings to prevent leaks.
Install the overflow
An overflow pipe protects your tank and property during heavy rain.
- Direct overflow away from foundations.
- Use durable piping to handle large volumes.
- Position it to avoid water pooling.
Check for stability
Confirm the tank is secure before filling.
- Inspect the base for cracks or uneven settling
- Ensure all fittings are tight.
- Verify the tank is upright and balanced.
Fill and test
Always follow Rotoplastics’ warranty guidelines during installation.
- If in doubt, consult a professional installer to ensure safety and compliance.
- Regular maintenance, such as cleaning filters and checking seals, will keep your tank performing at its best.
